Bio: Walid along with his brother, Ziad, have become two of the most recognizable faces and personalities on the sidelines of youth soccer fields all over the nation. Walid has experienced inarguable success with the Slammers FC. The club has remained one of Soccer America’s top ten clubs in the nation over the past six years. He was selected as Cal South Nike Coach of the Year in 2003, along with receiving Cal South Presidents award in 2003 for his years of dedication and contribution to youth soccer. As assistant coach for the Pali Blues USL W-league team he helped them in 2008 to a 12-0 undefeated season and the W-league championship.


The brothers have placed numerous players in every major Division-1 conference, and over 15 players have participated in the national team system. Under the tutelage of the Khoury brothers, Alexa Orand was named the 2004 National Player of the Year and Danesha Adams was selected the 2006 U.S. Soccer Federation Youth Player of the Year.

Bio: Ziad along with his twin brother, Walid, have become two of the most recognizable faces and personalities on thesidelines of youth soccer fields all over the nation. Recently they were recognized by TopDrawer Soccer.com as the #1 youth girls club in the nation. Z has been selected twice as Cal South Nike Coach of the Year over the last four years, 2006 and 2009. As assistant coach for the Pali Blues USL W-league team he helped them in 2008 to a 12-0 undefeated season and the W-league championship.

Honorary Director of Coaching, Frank Klopas

Frank Klopas is currently the Technical Director for the Chicago Fire (MLS). Frank was instrumental in getting the Slammers FC program off the ground during the mid to late '90s while in southern California as a member of the United States National team during the 1994 FIFA World Cup. He continues to be a sounding board and resource for the Slammers FC directors of coaching.

 

Born in Prosimna, Greece, Klopas arrived in Chicago as a young boy. He played with the U. S. National Team fromFrank Klopas 1987 through 1996, recording 13 goals in 45 appearances over his nine years with the team. After his strong performances for the U.S. Men's National Team in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, Klopas joined AEK Athens of Greece. Kopas also was selected for the U.S. 1994 World Cup team.

 

in 1995 Klopas joined Major League Soccer for its inaugural season. Klopas was allocated by MLS to the Kansas City Wizards in 1996, where he played two seasons before being traded to the Chicago Fire in 1998. A member of the original Fire squad, Klopas helped the Fire capture the MLS Cup and U.S Open Cup in 1998. Klopas instantly went into the record books by notching the Fire's first two-goal effort in the team's first game at Soldier Field on April 4, 1998.

 

Klopas is also founder and a coach for the F.C. Drive youth soccer club, in Chicago. The Slammers FC are proud to recognize Frank as an Honorary Director of Coaching.

Bio: Coach George has 14 years club coaching experience. This includes 2 time division I CIF champion at Mission Viejo HS Girls Varsity Soccer, Orange County High School Coach of the Year, and coach of the current 4-time defending State Champion. Add to this 3 USYSA Far West Region championships, 2 USYSA National championship trips, 2008 Red Bull League National Champions, 2007 Manchester United Nike Cup Champions, 2007 Youth World Champions, 7 Surf Cup Titles, and several time League Cup Champions. It is evident coach George's players are in good hands.

 

 

 

 

Trevor Ickes

Bio: Coach Trevor played soccer at Loyola Marymount University. He achieved 1992 defensive Player of the Year and 1992 Rookie of the Year of the honors. His major coaching wins include the 1994 U-10 State Finalist, 2005 USYSA National Cup finalist, 2006 GU-14 CalSouth State championship, Far West Regional championship, and USYSA National championship. He recently took the Slammers FC GU-11 team to the semi-finals for Cal South State Cup. Coach Ickes earned Nike Coach of the Year honors in 2006.

Coach Trevor is a licensed coach with more than 16 years coaching experience.

 

 

 

 

Walter Loyola

Bio: Born and raised in Argentina, Coach Walter has over 20 years soccer experience as a player and a coach. Growing up in South America, the hot bed of the most creative and talented players the game ever produced, he played professionally in the second division with Cipolletti and El Porvenir in Argentina. He was then promoted to play professionally with two world class Brazilian first division programs. First at Mesquita and then for Brazilian powerhouse Palmieras based in Sao Paulo.

 

His coaching experience includes first division youth team, River Plate (Club Atletico), he was technical director at USC, coach at Matsunichi FC in China, Spindletop SC in texas, and he is still a staff coach for the olympic development program (ODP) in CalSouth. We are proud to have Coach Walter on our staff and the kids love his big heart and fun personality.

Bio: Ramon has served at a staff coach for Slammers FC for the last four years. He most recently served as Slammers FC College Recruiting Coordinator. As the College Coordinator Ramon has established dozens of relationships with college coaches throughout the U.S. Ramon principally works with our oldest teams on the girls side and helps prepare them for State, Regional, and National competitions.

Bio: Coach Pat is in his 21st year of coaching youth soccer. A player of 36 years his coaching experience was molded during stops with California Futbol Club, Wolfpack , JUSA and as Coaching Director of Anaheim Soccer Club. During Pat's playing experience he contributed to 5 consecutive men’s amatuer titles in the State of California. “My experience with the Slammers has been tremendous being surrounded by great coaches and great friends. I can honestly say it will be something I will never forget for the rest of my life . “


Married to Jean O’Brien, they have two children Kyle O’Brien (Vanguard University) and Jordan O’Brien (Slammer GU92). When he is not coaching, coach Pat can usually be found fishing.

Bio: Coach Frank as a coach has 12 years club coaching experience. This includes 2 time division I CIF champion at Mission Viejo HS Girls Varsity Soccer. Has led several club teams in South Orange County to Tournament Finals and has won several youth league championships. As a player Frank was Player of the year at Mission Viejo HS in 1991. Played at Irvine Valley Junior College and was awarded Player of the Year for the Junior College State Final In 1994.  Frank signed a professional contract with the Los Angeles Cobras in 1995.

Bio: Kirk currently plays in the Coastline soccer league (over 30 division). His coaching over the last 15 years includes 7 years in the club soccer environment with Wolfpack, OCU, Newport Mesa SC, and now Slammers FC. Coach Kirk is the director and founder of the prestigious and famed Newport Beach Daily Pilot Cup soccer tournament. We are proud to have Kirk as a member of the Slammers coaching staff.

Bio: Graduated a year early to join the UCLA Bruins in 2003. UCLA four time All Pac-10 selection, 2005 Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Season. Under-20 National Team along with co-captain of the Under-17 National Team at the 2003 World Youth Championships. Member of the U-17 residency program for two years, earning over 30 international caps. Also played with the U-14s and U-16s. 2003 McDonald's and two-time Parade All-American. Rated the No. 3 recruit in the nation by Soccer America. Member of the Region IV ODP state and regional teams. Played one year of prep soccer at Murrieta Valley HS, earning all-league and all-league academic honors as a freshman.

Played for Slammers from U9-U18 and part of the 2002 USYA National championship team and 2004 and 2005 runner-up squad. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Fabian has a passion for the game and a passion for life very few possess. As the son of a goalkeeper the likely position Fabian chose to play was... keeper. His training style is a hybrid of Argentinean & Dutch techniques. Fabian has been part of the club since the beginning. His sessions are technical, intense, loud, fast, and fun. Hours and hours of sweat in between the frame with Fabian is the place where great keepers are made. The goal for all his keepers is for them to play at the next level.
