The Slammers Futbol
Club is a California nonprofit
public benefit corporation headquartered in Newport Beach, California, USA. Our
broad mission is
to advance the cause of youth soccer for boys and girls through education, training,
recreation, and local, national and international competition. The
program's focus is the preparation, exposure and positioning of the players for
matriculation into Division I universities and colleges.
The Slammers' program provides a challenging, positive
environment in which development of the physical, intellectual and psychological elements
necessary for soccer excellence are maximized. Our reach for excellence includes
teaching
sportsmanship, commitment and teamwork through our teams coaches and trainers under the
guidance of Directors of Coaching, Walid Khoury and Ziad Khoury.
The Khoury brothers are licensed, full-time, professional coaches
whose experience and success are reflected in the quality and character of Slammers teams.
South American style, German discipline and personal caring are at the heart of the
Khourys' system of training.
Walid: "Skills and teamwork are everything; you train hard,
learn the game, love your teammates and success will naturally follow." Ziad: "I
love my players; I believe that God put me on this planet to teach kids."
Staff coaches, George Larsen, Rick Young,
Brian Sjollema, Ralph Lopez, Pat O'Brien, Brent Whitfield, Walter
Loyola, Ross Martin, Fabian Cerutti (Goalkeepers) and Ed Daniels
(Conditioning Coach) round out the
program's technical staff. They too embody the competitive spirit
and passion for the game that characterizes the Slammers' program.
