     Slammers GU15s Capture 4th State Cup Championship

     May 2008:  Congratulations to the Slammers GU15s (GU16 2008-09) who won their fourth consecutive State Cup Championship by defeating So Cal Blue 1-0.  Coach George Larsen's team did not allow a goal against in the tournament and are excited or the opportunity to compete at Far West Regionals in Hawaii next month.
 

             Slammers BU16s Capture FWRL Championship

     April 2008:  The Slammers U16 Boys earned their ticket to Far West Regional National Cup Competition by virtue of winning the Far West Regional League Championship.   The boys' achievement is special for the coaches and the club because the U16s are the first boys Slammers team to earn a Far West Regionals birth.  Special thanks and congratulations to Desmond Levin who has constructed and managed the boys team since U10 with the goal of establishing them as an elite team. On their way to the FWRL Championship, the U16s defeated Serrano and Barcelona, the  #2 and #4 nationally ranked BU16 teams.
     The BU16s will join the Slammers GU17 and GU18 FWRL Champions at Far West Regionals in Hawaii, along with the GU12 State National Cup Champions.  Other participants will be determined during the ongoing State Cup competition.
 

 
GU12s Capture National Cup

   March 2008: The GU12s, who lost in the finals of state cup last year, were determined to win it this year. They went 6-0 outscoring opponents 12-2 on their way to the finals. In the finals they beat WCFC 3-1. Coach Walid Khoury about the GU12, "This group is an amazing group when it comes to right time of the year. We played our best soccer at the right time of the year."  The GU12 team will join the FAR WEST REGIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS Gu17s and 18s at the Far West Regionals held in June in Hawaii. Congrats to all three teams and good luck to teams still competing for Regionals slots.
 

       Slammers Honored as 2008 Parade All-Americans
       Slammers players continued their tradition of leading Cal South in all American parade selections.  Five Slammers were selected this year. Camille Levin,Charney Burk,Kylie Doniack,Mia Bruno,Zekia bywaters. This is a great accomplishment for the players and the club Head Coach Walid Khoury said.  For a summary of Slammers player honors, go here.
                        Las Vegas College Showcase
    
February 2008:  The Slammers U15,16 and 17 teams went 9-1-2 in the Las Vegas Showcase. The Gu15s went 4-0 in the Red Bull league in Vegas.  The team's biggest win came against Eclipse Select 2-0. Meanwhile, the GU16s went 2-0-2.  The match against PDA ended up 1-1 and was one of the most anticipated games of the tournament. The GU17s went 1-1-1. Their biggest win came against the Eclipse select 2-1. Congrats for all the older teams on continuing the slammer tradition in the showcases.
 
        Soccer America again recognizes Slammers FC as
                  one of the top Girls Programs in the U.S.

     February 2008:  Soccer America has just released the 5th year of their rankings for youth soccer clubs in America. For the 4th straight year Slammers FC is ranked in the top 10 for girls’ youth programs coming in at #3, the highest ranked program in Cal South and Region IV for the 2nd consecutive year. This is the third straight year they have been the highest ranked girls program in Cal South. Under the direction of Walid and Ziad Khoury, the Slammers have been nationally ranked since the inception of the rankings in 2004 when the Slammers were ranked #11. Since then the Slammers have never been ranked below # 6 nationally.
     The historical rankings for the club going back to the rankings’ first year are:
2008 #3, 2007 #5, 2006 #6, 2005 #3, 2004 #11
     The rankings are based on a rolling 3 year cycle and reflect the club’s success at Nationals, US Club Soccer Nationals and developing National team players.
