* CLUB SOCCER - DECISIONS *
What do I want as a parent? What do I want as a player?
(NEWPORT BEACH, CA - 17FEB2013) We find ourselves in a very competitive environment today called club soccer... even more so, Southern California is clearly one of the hot beds for the sport in the US and the world. Without question some of the best soccer players in the world are coming out of this region. Where do you go?
A PARENT'S NEEDS AND QUESTIONS
* a program with repeated proven player success at high school and college levels (success at the national and international levels would be a dream)
* Coaches who teach sound fundamentals of the game, teach problem solving on the field, working together as a team, teach my child how to become a winner through playing and behaving with integrity
* Coaches who build character and discipline, while still maintaining the respect of my son or daughter
* an environment that fosters team, not the individual
* essentially... .help my young athlete be the best player they can be, and the best person they can be
A PLAYER'S NEEDS AND QUESTIONS
* see above *
SLAMMERS FC PROVEN SUCCESS
The Slammers continue to be one of the best programs in the country at preparing and placing student athletes at some of the best universities both academically and athletically. This includes DI, DII, and DIII. This includes the Ivy league, Pac 10, Big Ten, Big 12, and the SEC conference to name a few. These athletes do more than contribute.
Not only are these athletes receiving world class educations, and winning NCAA national championships, they are leading their teams at this level... leading them.
As example, 5 of the last 6 Womens NCAA championships had a Slammers FC student athlete significantly contributing to the winning team.
The last two US Womens National team games vs. Scotland (09Feb, 13Feb) included 3 goals and an assist from Christen Press (Stanford graduate) while Whitney Engen (North Carolina graduate) played the entire game on the 13th at central back. This is the full side US National team... athletes trained, character built, discipline fostered... with the Slammers.
SLAMMERS FC BUILDING CHARACTER
"I came to the club at 13, and my family immediately grew exponentially. Slammers is where I fell in love with soccer. My teammates and coaches showed me what it was like to have a true passion for the sport. And boy did we have a good time! Slammers taught me the technical and tactical skills that are the foundation of my game today, but more importantly, my youth career at Slammers inspired me to put soccer in a safe place in my heart, and it's been there ever since." - Christen Press, High scool All-American, Stanford graduate, Collegiate All-American, 2010 Hermann Trophy winner, and current member of the US Womens National team
Countless players will tell you the same story... they humbly reach out to their Slammers coaches again and again to share thanks and appreciation for what was a life changing experience fostered on the fields of Newport Beach... love of the game, love of team, character, discipline and responsibility as a person. You will find none better.
If you are looking to make a decision, it's obvious.
If your already here, you know. Thank you for all your passion and dedication.
Congratulations Christen Press
(NASHVILLE, TN - 13FEB2013) It is frankly very challenging to put in words how amazing the last two weeks have been for a few of our alumni. Their are many proud coaches, families, and friends. It is clear the following words will understate the sheer impact of these events on the club and the players... and the US National team. Either way, here goes.
Christen Press had her 1st and 2nd cap ever as a member of the US Womens National team last week against Scotland on the 9th and 13th. She scored three goals and added one assist over both games. No player has ever scored 3 goals in her first two caps for the team... NO ONE! Crazy accomplishment #1 for anyone, train with the US National team (best of the best), #2 accomplishment, actually play in a game, #3 accomplishment, contribute, #4 accomplishment, as an offensive player, have an assist or even better a goal, #5 accomplishment... here we go... set a record for the most goals EVER in your first two appearances. This was after you already tied the record for the most goals in your first cap (2). It is relevant to also mention Christen came out of her first game at the 74th minute, and came into the second game at the 61st minute. So basically she did all these while only playing about of 100 minutes of the 180+ minutes available.
Whitney Engen also earned her third cap for the US National team and her first ever start in the February 13th game in Nashville. Whitney continues to set the bar as one of the most dominate central backs in the game. Her tenacity and skill as a player has been evident since her youth days as a Slammer, time spent at North Carolina contributing to 3 NCAA National championships over four years, and now her presence on the US national team. Congratulations Whitney on your first start.

More simply stated, and without question, this club in Southern California called the Slammers continues to produce some of the top athletes in the world... yes the world.
It is that simple, and all that big at the same time.
A massive congratulations from all of us to both Christen and Whitney.

What's next after such a wonderful experience for Zakiya? Playing with fellow Slammers on the US U23 team would be awesome...
OK... doing that with Cami and getting ready for Spain.
How about becoming the first ever player to be selected in the inaugural NWSL collegiate draft to the Chicago Red Stars (first round - first pick)?
Yeah, that would be real cool... done.

From Zakiya:
"All I can say is under the direction of Walid and Z, the Slammers are second to none in US Youth, Womens, and Pro soccer. These two brothers are hands down the best coaches in American youth soccer and demonstrate how a soccer organization should be run to help kids reach there goals.
My dreams and the dreams of many other young athletes wouldn't be a reality without these two amazing brothers. Thank you Walid and Z."

ECNL OVERALL CLUB CHAMPIONS
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?
(WAUKEGAN, IL - 29JUNE2012) What do you say that hasn't been said before about this group of young athletes? How do you put into words something more creative which describes the passion and dedication of these players week after week from a club the fraction of the size of the many large powerhouse clubs they compete against from across the nation. This tenacious, smart, crafty, scrappy group of kids playing out of Newport Beach, CA know one thing very well... how to find your best... how to win. SIMPLY AMAZING!!!
The ECNL was created to isolate the top clubs in the nation for elite competition. In other words for the Slammers and many other clubs... the games just got tougher. So what does that mean when your club wins the top club in the Nation? What does that mean when you make it to the top four, or the top two, or how about #1? Look yourself in the mirror and be proud of yourself!!!
To every player, every coach, every parent... please recognize we are all part of something amazing. Congratulations!!!
