The Slammers could not be more proud of the accomplishments achieved by our players, current and former. This continued success at the highest levels is clear evidence of how many great athletes are part of this outstanding soccer family we call Slammers FC.

20NOVEMBER2011 (LOS ANGELES, CA) - Along with fellow teammates, David Beckham, Landon Donovan, and Robbie Keane, Jack McBean (16 years old), a player for the LA Galaxy, won the MLS Cup in a 1-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo . This is an amazing opportunity and experience for Jack in his first year as a professional.

(left, Jack and his proud parents in the photo above)

03DECEMBER2011 (DECATUR, LOS ANGELES, CA) - The Lee women's soccer team made NAIA history defeating Concordia University (Ore.) 3-0 in capturing its fourth consecutive national championship. Amy Cochran. Amy, who is a junior this year also earned COSIDA College Division first team honors. Amy plays predominantly outside back for the Lady Flames and is considered to be one of the strongest players at the position in the country for the NAIA. She has helped anchor the backline, now a member of three national championship teams.

04DECEMBER2011 (KENNESAW, GA) - Cami Levin (senior) and Mariah Nogueira (junior) and the rest of the Stanford University's Womens soccer team beat Duke University 1-0 to win their first ever NCAA Womens D1 Soccer Championship. Cami contributed the game's only assist in the 53rd minute... the game winner. She finished her Stanford career with a 95-4-4 record... two of these losses came in the NCAA D1 championship finals (Notre Dame '10 and North Carolina '09).

Press conference quote from Paul Ratcliffe, Stanford University womens soccer head coach, on his four seniors, "... I don't think it's ever a slam dunk easy sell for the best players in the country when we were recruiting them. The tricky part for me was convincing admissions that I found two of the best players in the country in Teresa Noyola and Lindsay Taylor that were actually across the street from Stanford. We were recruiting nationally and I had to convince admissions I found two players and they proved me right here. Kristy Zurmuhlen is from New Hampshire, who thought you'd find a great player in New Hampshire when you're looking nationally? She's a diamond. Cami Levin is from southern California and played for the Slammers, great club down there. She had fantastic coaching growing up and she's definitely been a diamond. It was hard to sell her on Stanford; I had to work hard to get her. But I'm thankful they all came to Stanford and trumped it up. I think they've benefitted from everything at Stanford, the academics and athletics... "

We are so very proud of our athletes and we applaud them for their hard work, dedication, and success. Great Job Jack, Cami, and Mariah.

Cami Levin, a great competitor

25AUGUST2011 (PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA) An outstanding article was posted today from an interview with the head womens soccer coach at Stanford University, Paul Ratcliffe about one of the Slammers close family members, Cami Levin.

Writing this article is very easy for me. Below are quotes from the article and her coach...

"I wish I could clone her",

"... one of the best outside backs in the entire country"

"She's so talented..."

"... I want to play her everywhere..."

"... one of the best defenders in the country..."

"... an incredible leader..."

"... great competitor..."

Like I said... very easy. Congratulations Cami.

Slammers... Building Champions

(17AUGUST2011) NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA - What happens if every day you wake up and vow to be better... and you mean it? I mean you turn those words into actions everyday... truly. What happens when you further surround yourself with coaches and players who believe the same... day after day... week after week... month after month... and year after year. What is possible?

As a person, as a player.. you come closer to reaching your potential than most people ever will.

The lesson... surround yourself with excellence and pursue excellence... ask nothing less of yourself than your very best.

Today the Slammers were blessed with three gifts acknowledging five great players. These recognitions are at the highest levels in the sport.

Three players earned spots on the U17 US National team training camp held in Carson, CA from August 21 - 29. This camp includes two international matches against the U17 Japanese National team. This is an amazing honor recognizing years of dedication from all three players.

Congratulations to Maddie Bauer, Olivia Hazelrigg,

and Kayla Mills

It is without argument the Womens Professional Soccer (WPS) league in the United States is a gathering of the best womens soccer players the world has to offer. As it stands today... it is the benchmark.

We have several Slammers who found themselves fortunate enough to compete at this top level... an honor few can only dream of achieving.

... how are they doing?

hmmm... it seems pretty well.

Today (17Aug2011) in San Francisco, Christen Press and Whitney Engen both were recognized as being the best among the best. Whitney Engen won Defensive Player of the Year... while former Slammer alum Christen Press was awarded Rookie of the Year. An amazing moment for two great soccer players.

They played in the top national tournaments, they competed for national championships, and walked away with a new foundation of learning that most teams dream of experiencing.

Slammers Success at Surf Cup

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (02AUGUST2010) The prestigious Surf Cup soccer tournament held on the beautiful fields of Del Mar, California brings together some of the best soccer teams from across the USA every year. An invite to this tournament alone is an achievement... success against this field is an accomplishment on another level. The Slammers sent seven teams southbound on the 5.

Slammers teams have a history of rising to the occasion against the best of the best. This event is no exception. The GU18s reached the quarterfinals, the GU17s made the elite super group semi-finals, the GU16s were super group finalists, and the GU13s and GU15s were both crowned champions... an absolute awesome showing considering the level of competition. Adversaries on the soccer fields... yet off the field joined by a common goal of offering the joys of soccer to the youth of southern California.

The entire Slammers family would like to extend our prayers and support for SC Blues GU11 player Katie Hawley.

Katie is fighting Stage 3 Neuroblastoma in her liver, adrenal glands, and lymph nodes. In July, what presented as a stomach ache was diagnosed as cancer. Within two weeks of receiving this news, Katie had surgery at LA Children's Hospital, and began a seven-round treatment process of chemotherapy, which will include stem cell chemotherapy.
