GERMANTOWN, Maryland (JULY 2003) - The GU14 Slammers and a tough FC Delco Fusion team from Philadelphia squared off in the 2003 USYSA Snickers National Cup Finals. The game was at a 1-1 tie during regulation and two overtimes, sending the match to kicks from the penalty mark. The Slammers won the PKs 4-2 over FC Delco Fusion. The National Championship victory capped a perfect season for the team, which also won championships in State Cup, Regionals, Coast Soccer League, CSL League Cup, Surf Cup, Manchester United Cup and the Gothia Cup during the past season. It was also the Slammers club's second consecutive National Championship and the finishing touch on a highly successful season for the club and it's coaching directors, Ziad and Walid Khoury

 

 

 

GERMANTOWN, Maryland (July 2003) - The Golden Boot Award is for the outstanding player and the Golden Glove Award is for the top goalkeeper in of the 2003 USYSA National tournament. GU-14 Slammers FC players received both; Lauren Gregston was the year’s Golden Glove recipient while Christen (Mo) Press was for the Golden Boot recipient.

 

 

 

 

GU-14 (G88) Manchester United Premier Cup

BEAVERTOWN, Oregon (May 2003) - The Slammers GU14’s traveled to Nike World Headquarters for the prestigious Manchester United Premier Cup. The Slammers offense was lethal, the defense was flawless and Ziad’s coaching was brilliant as they outscored the nation’s top teams 8-0. The Final was a repeat of the previous week’s State Cup Championship game against Surf. Played before more than a thousand spectators, the Slammers won 2-0 and entertained onlookers with an amazing display of finesse and ball control. This Championship earns the girls a Nike sponsored trip to the Gothia Cup in Sweden this summer as the U.S. representative. Nickelodeon TV taped the matches and the Slammers girls’ every move.

 

 

 

GU14 (G88) Gothia Cup Champions (Sweden)

GOTHENBURG, Sweden (July 2003): The GU14s continue their assault on the global world of soccer as the Slammers FC Girls ’88 team won the Gothia World Youth Cup this past Saturday in Gothenburg, Sweden, by defeating the Tillberga IK club from Tillberga, Sweden, by a score of 2-0. The Slammers controlled the entire match not allowing Tillberga a shot on goal. The championship game was played in the 40,000 seat Nya Ullevi professional soccer stadium and was preceded and followed by colorful ceremonies.
The Slammers dominated their nine opponents throughout the tournament with a swarming offensive attack and a smothering defense. Slammers outscored their opponents 51-0 on their way to the championship. Gothia World Youth Cup is the largest youth soccer tournament in Europe with 1,390 teams participating this year from 55 countries. This year’s Girls 15 group was a field of 60 teams from 19 countries.

 

 

 

 

GU16 (G86) Surf Cup Champions

 

 

 

NEWPORT BEACH, California (December 2003) - Slammers FC were Coast Soccer League Champions from GU13 through GU16
Five Slammers FC teams finished the CSL season as League Champions, and two others as runners-up. The GU16 have won five consecutive league titles and the GU15s have posted four in a row.

 

 

 

 

LOS ANGELES, California (December 2003) - The United State National women's U-19 team will hold a training camp at the Home Depot Center from Dec. 27 to Jan. 2.  Among the 26 players invited are Slammers FC player from Orange El Modena High, sophomore forward Alexa Orand, the youngest player on the roster. 

 

 

 

California (March 2003) - Slammers FC director of coaching, Walid Khoury has been named this year's Coach of the Year by CalSouth. The honor, presented at CalSouths annual general meeting iwas a result of continuous high performance of his teams including three State Cup championships overall and two Regional Championships and a National Championship in 2002.

 

 

 

Coach Khoury was also presented the President's Award for Soccer Excellence by U.S. Soccer's President Dr. Robert Contiguglia. Coach Khoury said the honors were earned by his teams and there is much work yet to do.
