GU-14 (G87) USYSA National Champions
Maryland (July 2002) - The Slammers FC GU14 squad overcame blistering heat in the beginning, torrential rain in the middle and a partisan home crowd in the Finals on their way to sweeping all GU14 awards at the National Championships.
In addition to the Championship Cup earned by a 2-1 victory over Bethesda Eclipse (Md), the team was presented with the Fair Play Award for their sportsmanship and conduct on and off the field. Christi Yount won the Golden Glove for her exceptional work in the net, and striker Alexa Orand was presented the Golden Boot for her outstanding performance throughout the tournament as judged by tournament organizers and referees. Congratulations to the team.

Slammers Snare Four Surf Girls Cup Championships
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (November 2002) - Slammers coaches Walid Khoury, Ziad Khoury, Fabian Cerutti and George Larsen used their three-night hotel minimums as four teams made it to Sunday and took home Surf Girls Cup Championships. The four coaches roamed in a pack from field-to-field guiding their GU11, GU13, GU14 and GU15 teams to a combinedSlammers Teams Go Undefeated 17-0-3 record while outscoring opponents 41-3. The best thing about the weekend according to players . . . "getting sideline support from other Slammers teams, and the Nike championship jerseys, of course." Thanks to Mike Connerley, Mick Dawson and their tournament staff for giving us another top-notch event.
Slammers FC and Nike Join Forces
NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA (December 2002) - The Slammers FC signed a four-year deal with Nike to become a Nike Premier Club. Based on the club's performance and track record, the Slammers will become one of approximately 30 clubs from across the nation to partner with Nike. The partnership will create the opportunity for the Slammers to debut Nike’s latest premier equipment and also to take advantage of other special opportunities such as training and coaching clinics with Nike soccer affiliates around the globe.
The club will maintain its colors, but the girls and boys will wear different uniforms. Each gender will don Nike's top line for men or women as appropriate. The first delivery is scheduled for June 2003.
