TEMECULA, CALIFORNIA (22NOV2009) - In an extremely competitive bracket including Real So Cal, SC Blues, and SD Surf, the Slammers FC GU16 girls team took first place honors in the Region IV Far West Regional League. Amazing Story of Overcoming Odds

OAKS POLO FIELDS, CALIFORNIA (22NOV2009) - Slammers FC GU19 Wins League Cup Championship. After playing most of the season with 10 players and no subs the GU19 Slammers FC Silver Elite team were not on anyone's radar to go deep in League Cup. The GU19s snuck into the Round of 32 as a wild card... and then they slowly and systematically defied the odds and proceeded to beat 3 Gold and 1 Premier level team en route to the Finals and the opportunity to face another Premier team and League Cup favorites, the California Stars. After having a first half goal called back the girls went into half 0-0. Two second half goals found the back of the net for the Slammers and the girls who found friendship and fun all season long added another piece of hardware to the crowded Slammers family shelves. Speaking of family... the GU19 team had added players on the sidelines for the final game... their little sisters, the GU10 Silver Elite team cheered all game. It is safe to say a few of the GU19 parents realized how quick the last 8-9 years past after seeing the GU10 team running around playing together on the sidelines. The GU19s approached the Coast Soccer League Cup Championship with the same attitude they approached their season... have fun and play together as a team.

It is well known southern California is the hot bed for some of the best youth soccer teams in the nation. To win in this league requires beating the best of the best week in and out. This is no simple task. Going up against five Academy teams only added to the challenge. The boys also lead the league in goals with 27 tallies for the season. Coach Walid Khoury who now has Premier League championships on both the boys and girls sides is extremely proud of the effort from his boys. "They worked hard, played like a team, and earned this championship". This is a big statement as to the direction we are taking the boys program at the Slammers.
