Jack McBean: Home Grown, Slammers Grown

Jack with the U17 National team and with his family at Surf Cup

(NEWPORT BEACH, CA, 03FEB2011) Call it what you will… a player’s hard work matched up with passionate coaches and a solid curriculum.    The journey, persistence, opportunity, working on your game when no one is watching… slice it any way you want, the end game is Jack McBean spent the last seven years in a Slammers jersey working his tail off focused on one goal... being the best soccer player he could be.

It started here in Newport Beach when this little blond haired 9 year old put on a Slammers jersey for a bronze bracket BU10 Slammers team... fast forward seven years. Jack and the BU16 Slammers won the USYSA National Championship last year, Jack helped the ’94 Region IV ODP team win a national championship in December, he is currently a member of the US Soccer U17 residency program in Florida, and now at just 16 years old Jack signed a professional contract with the LA Galaxy… ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!

It is an understatement to say how proud we are here at the Slammers for Jack.  He is an outstanding young man and deserves all the success he achieved.
