CalSouth Awards Slammers Excellence

(LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA - 12FEB2011)  Two wonderful members of the Slammers family received recognition from CalSouth this month. First, Makenzy Doniak was awarded the honor of CalSouth Player of the Year. This award comes to Makenzy along with many other great experiences soccer has provided over the past years. Makenzy has been a key member of the Slammers, along with being a strong contributor to state and regional ODP teams. Makenzy confirmed she will play at the University of Virginia in the Fall of 2012.

The second Slammers member to be honored was George Larsen for competitive Coach of the Year. "This honor is well deserved for George. George continues to contribute positively year in and year out to the Slammers organization. He creatively encourages, develops, and finds ways for his players and teams to perform at the top of their potential. We are all proud of George", expressed Director of Coaching, Walid Khoury.

George joins an elite cast of Slammers coaches to previously receive this honor; Ziad Khoury (2), Walid Khoury (1), and Trevor Ickes (1). "I am extremely thankful of the opportunity I share everyday when I walk on the pitch and train our athletes with some of the top coaches in the country. We have a very strong coaching staff. Few clubs in the United States can be so fortunate to have one coach of the year... we have four", shared Walid.
