Slammers Success at Regionals

ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO (27JUNE2010) The train keeps rollin'... Three Slammers teams had the opportunity to travel and compete at the USYSA Region IV tournament in Albuquerque, New Mexico last week; BU16, GU16, and GU19.

The GU16 made it out of pool play winning 2 of 3 games. They beat the Mustang Rampage in the quarters and lost a well fought game in the semis to the Legends FC, 2-1. The club is extremely proud of the girls' character, teamwork, and efforts.

The GU19 squad swept through the tournament right to the finals. They won 5 games (3 in pool play, quarters, and semis). The girls lost a tight game game against the So. Alameda County CA Northstars which was 2-2 after regulation, and finished 3-2. What an awesome accomplishment girls.

The BU16 team had a roller coaster of a tournament. In pool play the had a tie, a loss, and a win. They won their quarter final game 3-0, had a 5-4 (OT) win in the semis, and then beat Sereno 5-1 in the finals. Congratulations boys!!!!

The Slammers will send two teams to the National Championship in Overland, Kansas during July 21-25... GU17s and BU16s. Good luck everyone!!!
